Learn How to Apply for Major City Arts Grants by Sept. 20, 2019
August 21, 2019 -- The Mayor urges members of the Houston arts community -- creative individuals, arts organizations, festival organizers and others interested in presenting cultural programming to the public -- to learn about applying by 5:30 p.m. Sept. 20 for three major competitive city grants.
The grant categories are Support for Artists and Creative Individuals (up to $15,000 per grant), Festival Grants (up to $10,000 per grant), and Support for Organizations (up to 20% of budget). The grants are funded by the City of Houston Hotel Occupancy Tax dedicated to the arts and are administered by The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs with the Houston Arts Alliance.
The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (MOCA) urges prospective applications to attend a workshop to learn more about the grants, get tips on the application process and ask questions.To find a workshop, visit https://www.houstonartsalliance.com/.
“I recommend that everyone attend a workshop presented by the Houston Arts Alliance and start the application today,” said MOCA Director Debbie McNulty. “It’s free, it’s a resource to help you and there are more than ever to choose from this year.”
