March 12, 2025 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 4600 South Loop West (South Interstate Highway 610 West) about 5 p.m. on Tuesday (March 11).

The identity of the deceased male, 51, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Le and Officer S. Le reported:

The male was driving a black Hyundai Tucson the wrong way - eastbound in the westbound lanes of the freeway at the above address -  and struck a black Volkswagen Atlas traveling westbound.  A third vehicle, a gray Chevrolet Trax, swerved to the right and struck the shoulder barricade to avoid the collision.

Paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.  They transported three persons (ages 32, 6 and 5) in the Volkswagen and the Chevrolet's female driver, 53, to area hospitals.  All are in stable condition.

The investigation is continuing.
