BARC Houston to Host Family Friendly “BARC-O-Ween” Adoption Event October 19 with Free Adoptions
BARC, the City of Houston's Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, invites Houstonians to the inaugural “BARC-O-Ween” family friendly adoption event on Saturday, October 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 3300 Carr Street. At this spook-tacular shelter event, all adoption fees will be waived, so it is the perfect time for families to welcome a new pet into their homes while enjoying a day of fall-themed fun.
At BARC-O-Ween, BARC is offering waived adoption fees for all pets, providing a great opportunity to save a life and give an animal a loving home. With hundreds of pets looking for families, BARC is calling on the community to help make a difference by adopting.
In addition to adoptions, this family-friendly event will feature exciting trunk-or-treating, pumpkin decorating, face painting, and booths with information and giveaways from local vendors! Food trucks from popular Houston vendors, as well as adult beverages and root beer from St. Arnold's Brewing company, will be on site, offering a variety of delicious treats for purchase and give-away. Entry to the event is free, and the first 75 adopters will receive a free swag bag!
“We are thrilled to host our first ever BARC-O-Ween event this year as a way to engage the community, raise awareness for pet adoption, and celebrate our pets,” said BARC Shelter Director Jarrad Mears. “Adoption events like this are critical for our shelter, especially during high-intake seasons. It’s a chance for us to connect with the public and find forever homes for our animals, while also providing a fun, safe environment for families to enjoy the Halloween spirit.”
The event is made possible thanks to generous support from our sponsors, including Houston Pets Alive!, Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Petco Love, the Houston BARC Foundation, and Friends of BARC. Attendees can also participate in raffles and win fun giveaways while learning more about local pet resources and responsible pet ownership.Visitors and potential adopters of all ages are welcome to attend in family friendly costumes; no outside pets are permitted, excluding service animals.
